This is my journey to become a healthier me. It began on January 26, 2010 and stalled out... I got a type 2 diabetes diagnosis on March 30, 2022 and started to focus on my health again. On November 8, 2022 I added Ozempic to my toolbox to help me shed some pounds and inches!

About Me

Hi, I'm Susie. I'm 40 years old and I've been overweight for most of my adult life. When I first wrote this blog, I had been trying and failing for years to lose weight on my own. Sometimes it was motivation that failed. Sometimes it just felt too hard to fit weight loss into my life. But for whatever reason, it didn't take.

I tried the Nutrisystem program back in 2010, and I lost 110lbs in less than two years. While I never achieved my "goal" weight, I don't think it was a realistic goal and in hindsight I should have been very happy with my health and my body at that point.

I maintained my weight loss for over four years. I had been determined to make it into that small fraction of dieters who keep off their loss for more than five years. Unfortunately, life is what happens when we are busy making plans. Divorce and serious health issues meant that I didn't have time or mental energy to pay attention to what I was eating, and finances meant I was eating a lot of cheap food. Fresh fruits and vegetables are expensive when you can eat a can of soup for 50 cents or share a box of Kraft Dinner with your family for less than a dollar.

Money is still tight, mental health post-pandemic isn't great, but I think this is something that I need to do again. I already have enough health problems and I know that my obesity is making them worse. I'm currently counting calories using the Lose It app, taking Ozempic, and adding exercise as I can! If you're here to read about my Ozempic journey, you can check for my entries tagged Ozempic to start from that point.

So here I am; I'm back, and I'm ready to focus on myself again. You can't pour from an empty cup.
