This is my journey to become a healthier me. It began on January 26, 2010 and stalled out... I got a type 2 diabetes diagnosis on March 30, 2022 and started to focus on my health again. On November 8, 2022 I added Ozempic to my toolbox to help me shed some pounds and inches!

I made it!

Woohoo! Over 50lbs since I started Nutrisystem, 75 since I had my son! I know I'm still not even halfway there but it's a damn good start.

I'm really excited to get my violet Nutribear!

  2. Great Job! Did you ever consider Gastric Bypass before deciding on NS? I want to try NS but my friend just had so much sucess with GBP that I am tempted to just go for the gusto.

Honestly, no, I never considered it. The idea of having surgery just to lose weight terrified me. I am sure it's very safe but people have died from it. I believe I am a strong enough person to do this on my own- I don't need that kind of help to teach me when it's time to stop eating. I don't mean to imply that your friend is weak- just that it is not the path for me.

Not to mention, the side effects aren't great. I don't want to have a liquid diet or not be able to eat should I decide that I want to splurge once in a while.

Take some time to figure out the decision that's right for you, whichever it may be. I would definitely recommend trying something "low intervention" before doing something as drastic as surgery- but that's just my $0.02.

Good luck and please feel free to stick around here either way!

  4. Oh- I also wanted to add that there is quite a community of people on the Nutrisystem boards who have had gastric bypass surgery and regained the weight. It's not a cure all. The big advantage of a program like Nutrisystem over surgery is that it teaches you how to eat, so hopefully you never have to do this again.
